Smokers Helpline Wales
Smokers Helpline Wales provides free and confidential advice to help young people and adults who want to give up smoking. To speak to a member of the team for general advice on stopping smoking, an information pack and details on additional support services, you can call us on 0800 169 0 169 between 9am and 7pm, Monday to Friday (including bank holidays) and 10am and 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The service is closed on Christmas Day.
Giving up smoking is hard, and almost everyone experiences setbacks along the way. But it’s not the end of the world if you start smoking again - it’s a natural part of the process of turning from a smoker into a non-smoker. One in four adults in Wales is an ex-smoker, so it can be done!
The good news is that over 1000 people in the United Kingdom stop smoking – and stay stopped – every day!
And it’s worth doing. As soon as you stop smoking, the risks of serious diseases such as lung cancer, heart disease and stroke start going down. You will also save money by stopping smoking.
We can post an information pack to you, which includes information on how to prepare to stop smoking, how to give up and how to stay stopped. It also includes details of Stop Smoking Wales, the service which provides free and friendly help and support in your local area to help you quit.
If you would like to speak to a specialist smoking cessation advisor you should contact Stop Smoking Wales on 0800 085 2219 during their office hours between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday to make the initial contact with the service. If calls are outside of these hours, you can leave your name, address and phone number on the answer phone and someone will call you back the next working day. You can also visit the Stop Smoking Wales website at http://www.stopsmokingwales.com/home
Good luck. Don’t give up giving up.
