You can call the NHS Direct Wales through Next Generation Text/Text Relay on 1 8001 0845 46 47. Calls cost a maximum of five pence per minute from a BT landline. The cost of calls from mobiles and other networks may vary. Your service provider may charge a minimum cost per call. For patients’ safety, calls to NHS Direct Wales are recorded.

Using Next Generation Text/Text Relay

Next Generation Text/Text Relay relays conversations between people who use textphones and people who use voicephones. When you use Next Generation Text/Text Relay to call NHS Direct Wales, an Next Generation Text/Text Relay operator will speak your words to an NHS Direct Wales call handler and then convert their spoken words into text for you. If you use speech, the call handler can listen to what you have said, then reply. The Next Generation Text/Text Relay operator will then convert what the call handler has said into text.
