About Us

How do you access the NHS Direct Wales service?

Health problems can occur at any time. NHS Direct Wales' telephone helpline gives you access to health advice and information available 24 hours a day, every day. For patients' safety, all calls are recorded. Calls from landlines and mobiles cost 2p per minute, this will be in addition to the telephone providers access charge.

You can call us on 0845 46 47 and speak to a nurse adviser if you are feeling ill and are unsure what to do. If you are calling on behalf of someone else, that person needs to be in the same room as you so that the nurse can accurately assess their symptoms. Using their skills and experience, together with a comprehensive computer system, NHS Direct Wales nurses will advise you on the most appropriate course of action to take. For patients' safety, all calls are recorded. Calls are charged at local rates.
