Health problems can occur at any time. NHS Direct Wales' telephone helpline gives you access to health advice and information available 24 hours a day, every day. Calls cost a maximum of five pence per minute from a BT landline. The cost of calls from mobiles and other networks may vary. Your service provider may charge a minimum cost per call.
You can call us on 0845 46 47 and speak to a nurse adviser if you are feeling ill and are unsure what to do. If you are calling on behalf of someone else, that person needs to be in the same room as you so that the nurse can accurately assess their symptoms. Using their skills and experience, together with a comprehensive computer system, NHS Direct Wales nurses will advise you on the most appropriate course of action to take. For patients' safety, all calls are recorded. Calls are charged at local rates.
